About Commerce Kitchen

We like to think of ourselves as superheroes. Superheroes who enjoy beer and Thai food, and the occasional Bomb Ball match.

Commerce Kitchen’s superteam of web developers, designers, SEOs, writers, social media ninjas, and project managers aren’t planning on taking over the planet; we just want to make the virtual universe better for everyone by designing and building crazy-user-friendly sites and apps that are easily found in search, and by elevating the level at which people do business on the internet.

We love what we do. A whole lot. Like, a lot a lot a lot.

Our Approach to Development

Inspired by some of the other amazing agencies out there, Commerce Kitchen believes in the paired approach to programming. When two people program together they are much more productive, more creative, and, honestly, a hell of a lot less bored.

Because there’s always someone checking your work–and you’re always checking your partner’s work–there is much less opportunity for errors that easily slide by one set of eyes.

Paired programming is invigorating, inspiring, and effective. Come join a pair.

Your working experience with JavaScript, including working knowledge of AJAX either through direct coding or libraries such as JQuery, is required. CSS experience is a must. We are not looking for a designer, but you must know the basics and how to tweak settings when necessary.

Experience with Linux including shell commands, scripting, Linux permissions model, and basic configuration. You will also possess experience working with some form of version control software such as Subversion/SVN and GIT.

We’re looking for a superhero to join us who has good communication skills, the ability to work independently, and works well with a sidekick as part of a paired programming team.

You will be working directly with project managers and analysts, and you may speak directly to customers for requirements clarification, depending on the needs of the project.

Desirable skills include: Experience with Smarty Templates, CSS, JQuery, and a working knowledge of GIT. Experience with database modeling with MySQL is preferred.
