About Commerce Kitchen

We like to think of ourselves as superheroes. Superheroes who enjoy beer and Thai food, and the occasional Bomb Ball match.

Commerce Kitchen’s superteam of web developers, designers, SEOs, writers, social media ninjas, and project managers aren’t planning on taking over the planet; we just want to make the virtual universe better for everyone by designing and building crazy-user-friendly sites and apps that are easily found in search, and by elevating the level at which people do business on the internet.

We love what we do. A whole lot. Like, a lot a lot a lot.

Our Approach to Development

Inspired by some of the other amazing agencies out there, Commerce Kitchen believes in the paired approach to programming. When two people program together they are much more productive, more creative, and, honestly, a hell of a lot less bored.

Because there’s always someone checking your work–and you’re always checking your partner’s work–there is much less opportunity for errors that easily slide by one set of eyes.

Paired programming is invigorating, inspiring, and effective. Come join a pair.

Internship Description

Friend: your primary mission will be to learn to build enterprise web products with Ruby on Rails development tools.

We are looking for someone with Rails experience — API and transactional experience a bonus.

We’re looking for a superhero to join us who has good communication skills, the ability to work independently, and works well with a sidekick as part of a paired programming team.

You will be learning to work directly with project managers and analysts, and you may speak directly to customers for requirements clarification, depending on the needs of the project.

Desirable skills include: Experience with Bootstrap Templates, CSS, JQuery, and a working knowledge of GIT. Experience with database modeling with PostGreSQL is preferred.

  • If you are interested in putting your superpowers to use in this context please contact our Chief Firefly Pilot Tynan Szvetecz — careers@commercekitchen.com.
  • Along with your resume, please submit a cover letter that states why you’d like to work with us, what your superhero name would be, and one unusual fact about yourself. We do not consider applications without a cover letter.
  • Commerce Kitchen does not accept unsolicited Agency Resumes. Commerce Kitchen will not pay fees to any third party agency or firm.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a paid internship with the chance to evolve into a full-time position. Since we are a team, we’re looking for people who have our back. In return, we offer competitive rates for our term contracts and lovely salaries for our full time employees. Health benefits too. Did we mention Wine Friday? Endless supply of magic burritos? Rec room? Rad co-workers?
